Mardi Gras RVA

It may be a little early to start thinking about Mardi Gras but Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away and before you know it- the middle of February will be here.

This year’s Mardi Gras parade, put on by the Dogtown Dance Theater is centered around romance! There are two opportunities for you to catch a parade. The first parade is on Saturday, February 14 at 3:00 pm. There will be floats, classic cars, dancers in costume, marching bands, step groups and plenty of noise makers. Make sure to line the streets to grab some free Mardi gras beads! After the parade, the party will continue at the Dogtown Dance Theater from 4:00-7:00 pm. Tickets are $15. There will be aerial dancers, burlesque, hoop dancers, belly dancing and live music!

The second parade will happen on Fat Tuesday- February 17th at 5:30 pm. This parade is non-motorized- it’s more of a community and family parade. Bring instruments, noisemakers and lights to join in on the fun! There will be costumed dancers, lights and music. Following the parade, there will be another party at the Dogtown Dance theater from 7:00-10:00 pm.

The parade route for both days leaves from 15th St. and Bainbridge St. going West to Porter St. They’ll turn right on Porter, heading North to 10th St. At 10th St. they’ll head East to Bainbridge and take another right.
